There is absolutely no charge to check out your options. If you enroll with a specific company, that insurance company pays AHP. There is never any charge to you.
AHP is appointed with all major carriers in Wisconsin. If there is a plan available, AHP will find it for you.
Marketplace coverage is based upon your projected income for the given plan year. For 2023 plans, the government takes into account your projection of income for the calendar year 2023. Based upon that figure, the government will assign a monthly credit amount to you. This amount is applied to your premium each month. If you exceed the government imposed income limits, however, then no credit is available and you would be required to pay the full cost of the plan.
COBRA plans are meant to be a bridge between your current plan and your next “permanent” plan. They are only good for 18 months and require payment of the full cost of the plan. Because of this, there may be better marketplace or short-term solutions available at a better price. Contact us to shop the details for you so you can make an informed decision.
AHP is partnered with general brokerages that specialize in administration of benefit programs for companies of all sizes. Whether 50 or less employees or 100 or more employees, AHP has the right benefit solutions for you.
The answer is maybe. Open enrollment is from Nov 1st to Dec 15th of each year. Outside of that time frame, you would need a “SEP” Special Enrollment Period to be able to switch mid-year. You qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you've had certain life events, including losing health coverage, moving, getting married, having a baby, or adopting a child. Call us for details!
This is a great option if you cannot get government credits for any reason. If you are healthy and have no pre-existing conditions, these plans are priced very competitively and are worth taking a look at. They do not cover pre-existing conditions and do not cover preventative care as they are not “marketplace approved” plans. Still, they can be a great option if you fit the criteria required to enroll in these plans.
